Culture and innovation mark Portugal Day at Expo 2025 Osaka

On 10 June, Portugal celebrated Portugal Day, Camões and the Portuguese Communities at Expo 2025 Osaka with a cultural and institutional programme reflecting the national participation theme: Ocean: the Blue Dialogue.

The highlight of the day was a concert by Carminho, who took to the stage at the Expo’s National Hall and captivated the audience with her unique interpretation of fado. The venue, which accommodates around 700 people, filled to capacity, in a performance that reflected the connection between tradition and modernity that Portugal brings to the world at Osaka.

Knitting and spinning by Rosa Pomar draw attention at the Portugal Pavilion

For two days, the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka became a space for sharing Portuguese textile traditions. Artisan Rosa Pomar led workshops in knitting and hand-spinning with Portuguese wool, bringing together Japanese participants around age-old techniques that combine craftsmanship, sustainability and identity. The initiative also highlighted the growing presence of Rosa’s brand in Japan, where her products have been available for over a decade.
